Single Use Plastics
There is overwhelming scientific evidence and growing public awareness that consumption and improper disposal of single-use plastics is harming our environment. This is a particular problem when such items - water/pop bottles, straws, cups, bags (including dog poop bags) - are left on wilderness trails or in other areas where waste/recycling services are not available.
Ferguson Forest Centre is therefore asking all FFC visitors and trail users to refrain from using single-use plastics on FFC grounds and to practice good forest stewardship by ensuring a carry-in/carry-out practice and responsible disposal of all waste items.
The dumpster located in the parking lot near the dog park can be used for disposal of dog poop bags but should NOT be used for disposal of other single-use plastics or regular garbage - all such items should be carried out by the user and disposed of responsibly at home.
